OUR HISTORY
In 1994, the Baliwag Maritime Foundation Incorporated opened the Baliwag Maritime Academy and started to pursue its mission and vision. The first batch that entered the Academy was composed of 70 midshipmen.
Upon accreditation from the Commission on Higher Education, Baliwag Maritime Academy started operating in 1995 and the continuous upgrade of its facilities has never ceased since then.
Notably, in 1999, Baliwag Maritime Academy met and passed the standards of ISO 9002 of the ABS Group, an International accreditation body. It was transferred and registered to Anglo-Japanese American Registrars on December 08, 2006. BMA was certified as one of the few maritime institutions in the country fully complying with (the International Maritime Organization and Standards of Training and Certification and Watch Keeping for seafarers or better known as the IMO-STCW. In 2014, Baliwag Maritime Academy was recognized as one of the Maritime institution that got included in the whitelist.
The dream that was coupled with inspiration and the desire to mold and produce globally competitive marine officers became a reality through the perseverance of the late Baliwag Maritime Academy President, Capt. Fernando D. Singson.
With the efficient efforts of Capt. Mario M. Bautro, who passed away last October 1, 2016 and the unwavering support of our current School Director Capt. Maximo M. Pestaño and the chairperson of the BMFI Board of Trustees Mrs. Josefina Tengco Reyes, BALIWAG MARITIME ACADEMY continued to improve and is now moving closer to what it was perceived to be.
AN EXCELLENT ACADEMY, IN THE FIELD OF MARITIME EDUCATION!
